As the school year approaches and kids are headed back into classrooms, it's important to reflect on the type of community we want to foster for our children. It is no secret that we are currently in turbulent times full of disagreement on many issues and beliefs. While a level of disagreement is natural and can foster growth over time, there is a line of fundamental respect we should not cross.

We are the role models that our kids will look to for defining right and wrong, and with that comes a responsibility to show them what acceptance and tolerance look like. By embracing other cultures, ideologies, and differences with kindness and respect, we can foster a more inclusive and supportive environment.

It costs nothing to be kind, and JCRC hopes that together we can build a better tomorrow through inclusive, positive actions today. We hope you all have a safe and productive school year!

Join the Atlanta Israel Coalition as they lead the ATL contingent to represent Atlanta in the largest gathering of support for Israel on Israel Day on Fifth in NYC on Sunday, June 2nd from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. between 62nd and 74th on 5th Ave. This year’s parade theme is "Am Echad, Lev Echad: One People, One Heart." The Celebrate Israel Parade is the world’s largest expression of solidarity with the Jewish state, and this year, expressing that solidarity is more important than ever! AIC has a grant to assist with some expenses for travel and participation, so please register here bit.ly/3WVG9Gc.

Our community partners are holding an in-person briefing with the Israel Policy Forum’s chief policy officer, Michael Koplow, on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. We invite all who wish to learn about this war and about the future of a secure, democratic Israel to join us. Even as thousands of people re-enacted the March on Washington for observation of the 60th anniversary, this racist, anti-Black shooter in Jacksonville, Fla., was proving the point of our need for unity and diligence in the face of white supremacy and hate.

The shooter reportedly marked gun with swastikas, illustrating deep interconnection of white supremacy, anti-Black racism, and antisemitism.
