The Event
Uniting for a future without hunger
We are excited to welcome the interfaith community of Atlanta to our table to participate in this special event, highlighting the tireless work toward food justice occurring daily throughout the metro area.
At 5 p.m., The Marketplace will be filled with our community partners that fight hunger and food insecurity every day. Come learn about their efforts and ways you can be engaged in their essential work. Immediately thereafter, we will enjoy our meal and program. We are looking forward to breakout conversations and diving deeper into the moral call of what it means to feed our people - including the impact of recent changes to the federal food programs. We will be led by Rabbi Jason Holtz of Temple Kehillat Chaim, assisted by other respected clergy leaders.

What is the Interfaith
Hunger Seder?
The Seder, the Hebrew word for order, is a ritual feast during the Jewish holiday of Passover that includes reading, telling stories, eating symbolic foods, singing, and other traditions. This year our event takes place at the end of the seasons of sacrifice found in Easter, Ramadan and Passover. Our Interfaith Hunger Seder follows this storytelling custom by recounting the Israelites’ escape from slavery in ancient Egypt alongside a delicious vegetarian meal, and strays from tradition by inspiring a conversation about hunger in our community and steps we can each take to address it.
Youth Program
Our youth represent the future we seek to protect through our action today. How better to prepare than to listen to the voices of our youth today? Let by Interfaith Atlanta Youth (IAY), under the skilled guidance of Dr. Chris RayAlexander and Rev. Cassandra A. Henderson (Interfaith Children’s Movement), will meet for a three-part session and dialogue just before the program. During the seder they will then present Four New Questions about ways their various faith traditions inform and compel them to action around alleviating food insecurity. There is still time for additional area high schoolers and youth groups to participate in this meaningful program. For information, contact Chris RayAlexander, at chris.ray1810@gmail.com.
